Hundreds have been featured on this very website over the years and today, I'm bringing you more of the best. These are all fantastic choices for holiday gifts and haven't been featured here before. If you're wondering why your favorite shop isn't on this list, it may have been spotlighted in the past. If not, please share the local businesses you'd like to support with us through this New Jersey destination nomination form. Please note that the businesses below are not ranked, each is unique. Many offer the opportunity to shop online and have your orders delivered, so don't let any of the locations deter you. 1. Out of Ireland - Historic Smithville (Absecon)One of the many charming shops located in Historic Smithville, we love that they ship their beautiful Celtic wares across the US! There's free shipping for orders over $25. You'll find everything from wall art with Irish blessings to Claddagh rings and coats of arms. 2. Fern & Fossil - NewarkPlants make great gifts and terrariums are a fun, interactive way to gift a little greenery. Fern & Fossil offers DIY terrarium kits and adorable soy-based succulent candles. Both can be shipped to your home! If you're looking to treat yourself, you can order beautiful custom terraria, available for local delivery. Patrons can also participate in a variety of virtual workshops. 3. Inkwood Books - HaddonfieldShop all the best books, in-store or online. They've got an incredible selection, knowledgeable staff, a virtual book fair, and plenty more to enjoy. Give the gift of locally-bought literature and make the bibliophile in your life jump for joy! 4. A Place On Earth - Cape May, Ocean City, Rio GrandeThis shop sells natural soaps, shampoos, scrubs, sprays, soy candles, and more. The gifts you'll find here are made with love and good-for-you ingredients. The scents are out-of-this-world and we love the fragrances inspired by Cape May itself! Order online and be prepared for a full cart - if you're anything like me, you'll want everything. 5. The Chocolate Goat - LafayetteIn addition to goat-themed goodies (goat milk soap, milk chocolate goats), you'll find a wide range of candies and gifts for all ages. You can shop a sizable selection online and feel good about your purchase - The Chocolate Goat does a lot to support the local community. 6. Little Bungalow - Surf CityThis charming boutique has a little bit of everything - clothing, accessories, home goods, fragrances, beauty products, and more. You can even purchase custom gift baskets. Shipping, local delivery, and curbside pick-up are available. 7. Pazzazed Gift & Home - Montclair, Franklin Lakes, RidgewoodPazzazed is packed with wall art, home decor, hundreds of cards, and a wide selection of unique and beautiful gifts (also available online). This luxe spot has one-of-a-kind high-end wares with a focus on American-made products. 8. The Herbery at Bear Creek Farm - HowellAn enchanting garden center, gift shop, and cafe located on a bucolic farm in Monmouth County, you'll find plenty of plants here. There's also a small selection of home goods, bath products, and garden tools (like a pocket pruner multi-tool). 9. Mo'Pweeze Bakery - DenvilleKids and adults alike love custom cookies! You can order them along with cupcakes, cakes, donuts, cookie kits, baking mixes, and more from Mo'Pweeze (more please) Bakery! The shop stands out as its sweet treats are kosher, vegan, and top 10 allergen-free. The shop is located in Denville but UPS Ground Shipping is available. 10. jaZams - PrincetonThis is a one-stop-shop for children's gifts. You'll find a creative, unique selection of toys, books, and games. They've got dolls, art kits, educational toys, building sets, comics, and so much more. Not sure of the perfect gift? They've got personal shoppers who can assist! You can also order online for contactless curbside pickup or free local delivery (within 8 miles) for purchases over $30. 11. The MINE - FlemingtonYou never know what treasures you'll find at The MINE! This eclectic shop has an amazing website (you can shop online) and an even better retail location. You'll find antique and vintage goods along with one-of-a-kind wares made by local artisans. 12. Just Jersey - MorristownI know, I've featured this shop before. However, it is one of the absolute best places in the Garden State for finding Jersey-made and Jersey-themed gifts. Shop a wide selection of quality products from local makers, many of which show off your state pride. Find zip code coasters, award-winning Jersey-made hot sauce, local goods gift baskets, and so much more. As someone who absolutely loves her home state, I can't say enough good things about this small business. Can't make it to Morristown? Shop online! 13. Pangea - MillvilleLocated at the Village on High in artsy Millville, this shop sells indigenous art and home décor, fair trade and eco-friendly gifts, and more. It's a great place to find something special, in-person or online. 14. Makerhoods Market - Newark + Surrounding AreasMakerhoods isn't a shop per se, it's a talented community of local artists and artisans. They will be reviving the historic Krueger-Scott Mansion and adapting it to serve as a live/work/create space but, for now, you can purchase a wide selection of their makers' goods online. Everything is pretty incredible but I do have a holiday favorite - this self-care gift set complete with a bath bomb, body butter, natural soap, stress-relieving scrub, a good vibes candle, and conditioning lip balm. According to Makerhoods, "with your purchase, you are directly supporting a person's dream." Shopping local is a gift, and one we don't take for granted.
